Hello! I’m Michelle
Registered Psychologist
Welcome to my website – Mindful Psychologist. I assume if you are here then you you are interested in mental health, either for yourself, for your relationship, or for someone who love. If you are looking for practical and evidence-based strategies to support you in developing greater mental well-being, then you’ve come to the right place. As a registered Psychologist, I utilise a number of different approaches, including CBT (great for dealing with difficult thoughts) and DBT (great for helping people manage distressing emotions), ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) and Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness. I work with individuals (adults and teens) and couples. I also support veterans and their families through DVA and Open Arms referrals.
My passion

Stress, Anxiety, Depression & The Brain
In my practice I see a lot of people with stress, anxiety and/or depression. When it comes to stress, I offer services for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, childhood trauma, burnout, work-related stress and Workcover claims. I am passionate about treating anxiety, including generalised anxiety, social anxiety, performance anxiety, phobias, and OCD. I can also assist with low mood, depression and bipolar disorders. I love helping people understand the role the brain plays and how they might start to re-wire their brain for mental wellbeing using mindfulness techniques.

ALL COUPLES WELCOME
I’ve always worked within the Queer community, and I welcome folks with same-sex & other unconventional relationships to my practice. I also see a lot of couples where one or both are current serving or ex-military.

Couples Counselling
Sessions can help couples learn to communicate better, resolve conflicts, and develop greater respect and passion. I draw on the approach of David Schnarch, author of Passionate Marriage, as well as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy.

My Approach
I utilise numerous evidence-based approaches in my practice, depending on what is required for the person sitting in front of me. First and foremost, I adopt a client-centred approach, listening deeply to you and your experience. After that, I will ask you to complete relevant assessments which help to give an objective account of your situation and symptoms. From there, working collaboratively, we build a treatment plan and create goals that are meaningful to you at this time in your life.
